Requirements

Getting started

Do I need an account?

No. On first launch, tap “Continue as guest”. Every feature is available without an account. If you like, you can sign in with Apple or Google instead; the app then shows your email address in Profile. Either way, your data stays only on your iPhone and is not synced with any account.

What does SparFuchs cost?

SparFuchs is free, and the free version is funded by ads. With the “SparFuchs Finanzplaner Premium” subscription (1 month, €2.99 in Germany; in other countries the price shown by the App Store before purchase applies) you see no ads and unlock:

The subscription renews automatically for one month unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. See the Terms of Use for details.

How do I change the language?

In Profile under “Language”: Deutsch, English or Türkçe.

Subscription and purchases

How do I subscribe to Premium?

Profile → SparFuchs Premium → “Subscribe”. Before you buy, the App Store shows the title, length and price; you confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your password.

The purchase doesn’t start or the App Store can’t be reached. What can I do?

How do I restore my subscription, for example on a new iPhone?

Sign in with the same Apple Account you used to buy Premium and tap Profile → SparFuchs Premium → “Restore purchases”. Premium belongs to your Apple Account, not to a SparFuchs account, and is not transferred by a SparFuchs backup.

How do I cancel my subscription?

In the app under Profile → SparFuchs Premium → “Manage subscription”, or on your iPhone under Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → SparFuchs Finanzplaner Premium → “Cancel Subscription”. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; Premium stays active until that period ends. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel the subscription.

How do I get a refund?

App Store purchases are handled by Apple. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t refund payments ourselves.

Backup and new iPhone

How do I create a backup?

  1. Open Profile → Security & Backup.
  2. In the “Backup” section, enter a backup password with at least 4 characters.
  3. Tap “Create Encrypted Backup” and save the file somewhere safe using the share sheet, for example in the Files app or as an email to yourself.

Remember your backup password. Without it the backup can’t be restored, and we can’t reset it.

How do I restore a backup?

  1. Open the backup file and copy its entire text.
  2. Go to Profile → Security & Backup and, in the “Restore” section, enter the backup password.
  3. Paste the text into the “Backup Text” field and tap “Restore Backup”.

Note: restoring replaces all current data on this iPhone. Afterwards, get Premium back with “Restore purchases”.

I have a new iPhone. Will my data come with me?

SparFuchs doesn’t sync through a cloud. If you set up your new iPhone from a backup of your old one or transfer your data directly, your SparFuchs data usually comes along. The safest way is a SparFuchs backup: create it on the old iPhone and restore it on the new one.

App lock

How do I protect SparFuchs with a PIN?

Open Profile → Security & Backup, set a PIN with 4 to 6 digits, tap “Save PIN” and then turn on “App Lock”. SparFuchs asks for the PIN when it starts and when it has been in the background for more than 30 seconds.

I forgot my PIN.

Your data is only on your iPhone, so we can’t reset the PIN. On the lock screen, tap “Forgot PIN?” → “Reset app”. This deletes your SparFuchs data on this iPhone. If you have a backup, you can restore it afterwards.

Your data

Where is my data stored? Can the developer see it?

Only on your iPhone. SparFuchs has no server of its own and no cloud sync; we can’t see your transactions. You’ll find the details in our Privacy Policy.

How do I export my data?

Profile → Export data → JSON (transactions, categories, wallets, budgets, savings goals and subscriptions) or CSV (transactions, for example for Numbers or Excel). The file is not encrypted; only share it with apps and people you trust.

How do I delete my data?

Profile → Log Out, after you confirm, deletes your transactions, wallets, goals, settings and other finance data on this iPhone; this also works in guest mode. Profile → Delete account & data does the same and, if you signed in with Google, also revokes the app’s access to your Google Account. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your iPhone. Create a backup first if you want to keep your data. Delete backups and exports wherever you saved them. Cancel a subscription separately (see above).

Savings Hub and prices

Where do the supermarket prices come from?

The app loads public offer pages of EDEKA, REWE and Lidl, and of meinprospekt.de, to your iPhone, if needed also through the r.jina.ai reader service, and evaluates them there. Prices are nationwide estimates for Germany without guarantee; the price in the store applies. If a page can’t be reached or its layout has changed, the app temporarily shows no current prices for that supermarket instead of made-up values.

Are the electricity, internet, mobile and insurance prices current offers?

No. These comparisons use reference values built into the app and are meant for orientation. Ask the provider for current terms. SparFuchs doesn’t give financial, tax or legal advice; the tax calculator also only gives an estimate.

Why does the app want my location?

Only for the name of your city, and only when you tap “Set city from location”. The app never reads your location by itself when you open a comparison. The app doesn’t store coordinates, and the city is optional. You can change access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → SparFuchs Finanzplaner.

Ads, tracking and notifications

Where do ads appear, and how do I get rid of them?

In the free version, banner ads appear on the “Subscriptions” and “Recurring Transactions” screens, and occasionally a short full-screen ad after you calculate in the smart basket (at most every 10 minutes and at most 6 times a day). In the EU and other regions where this is required, the app first asks for your consent in Google’s consent dialog; without consent it loads no ads. With Premium you see neither ads nor this dialog.

How do I change my consent to ads?

Profile → Privacy options opens Google’s consent dialog again, where you can change your choice or withdraw your consent. The entry appears where consent applies in your region, for example in the EU.

What does “App Tracking” in Profile mean?

Once the app may load ads, iOS asks once whether ads may use your iPhone’s advertising identifier. In Profile → App Tracking you can see your choice and open the prompt. With your permission, Google AdMob may use the advertising identifier to deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud. SparFuchs still only requests non-personalized ads, and without your permission iOS doesn’t provide the advertising identifier. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

How do I turn off reminders?

If you allow notifications, SparFuchs reminds you of your daily check at 12 noon (German time) and shows savings alerts. You set up savings alerts in Profile → Savings alerts. You turn off all notifications in Settings → Notifications → SparFuchs Finanzplaner.
